About Paul Tumpson

I’m Paul Tumpson, a Phoenix sports photographer and videographer creating professional content for athletes, teams, schools, tournaments and athletic organizations throughout Arizona.

My approach combines fast-paced action photography with controlled portrait lighting and organized production. Whether I’m photographing a game, creating athlete portraits or running a full team media day, my goal is to produce images that feel polished, energetic and specific to the sport and athlete.

I’ve photographed everything from live competition and training to large-scale athlete media days, including the p1440 fab50 Summit at Arizona Athletic Grounds, where nearly 50 elite volleyball athletes rotated through professional headshots, hero portraits and action photography. Experiences like that have shaped how I plan larger sports productions, manage tight schedules and create consistent content across an entire roster.

Sports photography today goes far beyond traditional team pictures. Athletes and programs need content for recruiting, social media, websites, schedules, announcements, banners, sponsorships and season-long marketing. I work with each client to understand how the final images will be used so we can build the shoot around those goals.

Whether I’m documenting a defining moment during competition or creating a dramatic portrait during media day, I want the final work to make athletes look and feel like athletes.
